This October half term, join professional artist-facilitator Lynn Weddle for a sensory, hands-on sessions.
Play with clay in this sculpture workshop that also shows us how we can use natural materials to make our sculptures extra special.
Make your bug as creepy as you like, or go for something cute and characterful, you decide in this explorative workshop. We’ll be thinking of all the creepy crawlies that we can and bringing them to life using simple techniques, moulding and shaping with our hands and a selection of tools.
We’ll be thinking of masks and faces from different cultures and traditions, from the Green Man to modern-day Halloween, to inspire our creators in this unique and playful workshop.
Make your very own clay mask or face and explore how to make it creepy, funny or scary with sculpting techniques as well as adding a range of natural materials that give character and texture.
Explore how we can use natural materials to create shapes, colours and textures to make your own amazing collage. We’ll be using autumn leaves, shells, sticks and twigs to tell stories, create characters or new landscapes. Feeling spooky for Halloween?
Make your very own creepy collage to display at home!
We will express our ideas and imaginations while experimenting with tactile and natural materials in a safe, person-centred and supportive environment.
All creations will be transportable to take home. Aprons are provided.
Parents are welcome to leave their children on site - take advantage of the surrounding shops and cafes, or take a well-earned break. If you prefer, you are also welcome to stay on site at Fabrica during the session where hot drinks and snacks will be available for purchase at our in-house charity cafe.

See this stunning animation on the big screen in a unique, pop-up film experience.
WORKSHOP: Land Ahoy!
We will experiment with natural inks, inspired by Kensuke’s paintings in the film, to create our own imaginative maps and animal portraits. We’ll explore materials such as feathers and sticks to make paintbrushes as well as techniques like dry brushing, cross hatching and stippling to chronicle your island castaway adventure. Aprons and all materials provided.
“I had read Kensuke’s Kingdom to my boys when they were little and they were enthralled by it. Michael Morpurgo manages to connect so beautifully with a child's sense of wonder and adventure. I very much wanted to be involved in the film version so that they could see it….” Cillian Murphy
Our affordable charity cafe-bar with refreshments and popcorn will be open throughout.
This film is rated PG, for more guidance please check the BBFC website.
