Royal College of Physicians Museum

The history of medicine is the history of life and death, and we are all connected to it. Founded in 1518 by King Henry VIII, the Royal College of Physicians has spent over five centuries changing medicine and working for patients and doctors. The Museum's mission is to engage, inspire and entertain people with the history of medicine and the importance of physicians within it.

Join professional London storyteller Vanessa Woolf for a colourful interactive storytime with music, props and even smells!

The Royal College of Physicians has collected books for over 500 years. Today the RCP Heritage Library has over 50,000 books! In 1666 the RCP library was all-but destroyed in the Great Fire of London. Come along, join in, meet our storyteller and help uncover the secret of the mysterious woman who rebuilt our library!

  • The story will be repeated throughout the day at 10.30am, 1.30pm and 2.30pm, choose your preferred time and book a ticket to enjoy a 30-minute story time plus the chance to explore our exhibition and enjoy drop-in crafts. Recommended for children aged 5 – 11 but all are welcome.

  • There is a session aimed at children with special educational needs, disabled children, and their families at 11.30am.

  • Tickets cost £10 per child. All children must be accompanied by an adult but accompanying adults can attend free and do not need to book separately.

Everyone who joins this storytelling event will also have the opportunity to drop in to our ‘Patterns, pages and prints’ craft activity room to have fun with paper-based creation.
