Sun Clover Outdoor Home Schooling
We are forming a small Waldorf- and Donguri-inspired outdoor home schooling group in our ecovillage. Children learn through daily nature experiences, seasonal rhythms, gardening, cooking, crafting, storytelling, and free play—slow, warm, and closely connected with the land.

Sun Clover Outdoor Home Schooling
We are forming a small, nature-centered home schooling hub in the southernmost mountain valley of Hualien, Taiwan, rooted in Waldorf education, Japanese “Donguri” learning, and our own lived experience of ecological village life.
Our intention is to create a nurturing learning environment where children grow up in deep relationship with the land—learning not only with their minds, but also with their hands, hearts, and senses.
This program is based in Sun Clover Ecovillage, an active ecological community practicing natural farming, seasonal living, outdoor learning, and community food-making. Children will spend the majority of their time outdoors, following daily rhythms inspired by Waldorf early childhood education: storytelling, singing, handwork, cooking, gardening, crafting, and seasonal festivals. The environment is slow, warm, and human-centered.
Educational Vision
We believe that childhood should be rooted in:
Nature — learning through forests, rivers, weather, animals, and gardens
Community — being surrounded by people who grow, build, cook, and create
Practical Skills — doing real meaningful work with their hands
Play & Imagination — open-ended, child-led exploration
Rhythms, Seasons, and Traditions — marking time with stories and festivals
Children will have daily opportunities to:
Tend vegetable gardens and observe how food grows
Forage, collect natural materials, and learn ecological awareness
Cook simple meals together using local grains and seasonal harvests
Work with natural materials (wood, clay, wool, bamboo, fiber)
Learn basic sewing, mending, and simple clothing making
Explore water and fire safely and responsibly
Build simple natural shelters and play structures
Participate in seasonal community gatherings
Develop curiosity, courage, attentiveness, and cooperation
Teacher and Language Environment
Our lead teacher, Zoran Zovko, formerly of Hai Sheng Waldorf School (Taichung), brings nearly thirty years of experience in Waldorf pedagogy, outdoor education, and nature-based learning. Language of the program is English only, creating an immersive and natural language learning environment.
Group Size and Age
At this early stage, we expect:
3 to 7 children, ages 5–7
One teacher per up to 4 children, ensuring close care and deep bonding
Schedule
5 mornings per week
8:00 – 12:00, mostly outdoors

Location & Living Considerations
Sun Clover Ecovillage is located in Luoshan Village, Fuli Township, a rural mountain area surrounded by rice terraces, forests, and rivers. Life here is peaceful and simple—not urban, not commercial, and not fast-paced.
A valid car driver’s license is necessary (for daily life and mobility)
Housing in the village is humble, simple, and rural, not city-style apartments
Community life is supportive, but requires independence and willingness to adapt
Program Fees & Housing
Teacher Fee: 10,000 TWD/month
Housing: 10,000–15,000 TWD/month (varies by house/location)
Visa Support
We can support:
Volunteer visa, or
Digital nomad visa (self-application)
Government housing is available for long-term residents.
If this speaks to your heart, we welcome conversation and visits. This is still the early stage—and we are building it together, slowly, with care.
Best regards,
Michiko Kitamura
